Today’s column

The featured garden in today’s Bay of Plenty Times is that of Colleen Thwaites at Te Puna. Colleen loves roses and at this time of the year her garden is a version of heaven – flowers and scents abounding.

Her desert island rose? Mutabilis. She has a soft spot for single-flowered roses and loves the way this one just keeps going, as well as all the different shades on a bush at once.

She pooh-poohs the idea that roses are hard work. Colleen is happy to open her Siesta Ochard garden to visitors, details of that are on the Open Gardens page.
